Microsoft is allegedly going to add last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 onto Game Pass this month, which would mark the first time the series has appeared on the subscription service.

The news comes from a new report by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson who said it’s “understood that the announcement could come as soon as today.”

If that’s truly Microsoft’s plan, it is a way for the company to soften the blow of its recent Game Pass price hike. Not only is the cost of every tier going up, but day 1 games, such as the forthcoming Black Ops 6 in October, will only be on Game Pass Ultimate.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hitting the service soon lines up with several reports from just last week in which it was claimed that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will be added to Game Pass in August. It was also contended that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 are also coming to Game Pass.

If Modern Warfare 3 does indeed come to Game Pass, will Microsoft add the rest of the series gradually over time or will they want them all on the service quickly as a way of tempting people put off by the price increase, and to help build even more hype for Black Ops 6?
