EA’s Skate series has, quite truthfully, completed kicked the living shit out of the Tony Hawks series in recent years, leaving it a bloodied and empty shell of its former self that seemed doomed to a slow and painful death at the hands of anologue-stick-flicking series, but now it seems like the Tony Hawks series might just be fighting back.

This years Video Game Awards (VGA) show is well and truly underway, but really the reason we all watch it is for the announcements, such as Activision proudly proclaiming that they are remaking the original Tony Hawk: Pro Skater in shiny HD. Watch the trailer and get ready for a skate-off between the two franchises.

Activision have confirmed that this HD remake is going to be a download-only title, and will be hitting XBLA sometime in the summer 0f 2012.
