The latest data for sales of boxed games in the UK has been released, revealing that Pikmin 4 has taken the top spot after launching to glowing critic reviews. As always, Nintendo does not release its digital sales data so for now we have no idea exactly how well Pikmin 4 is doing, but we do know that of all the consoles the Nintendo Switch typically has the highest ratio of physical to digital sales.
The big chart surprise this week is The Sims 4 Horse Ranch in 3rd place. This is a staggering position because boxed PC titles are already rare enough, let along them managing to chart. And yet here we are, the continued power of the Sims name managing to catapult the latest expansion above The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Speaking of which, Tears of the Kingdom’s sales have gone down by 23% but it’s still going strong. I really wish Nintendo would offer some sort of update on its total copies sold because it must be insane by now.
Mario Kart 8 is still charting strong, too. Just recently the latest wave of tracks released, doubtless boosting the games popularity.
Meanwhile, Hogwarts Legacy was recently revealed to be the best-selling game of the year so far, though that title is disputable due to Nintendo’s policy of not disclosing digital sales. Still, Harry Potter’s name and reputation is still mind-boggling to behold, even after all these years.
Finally, Diablo IV managed a small rally back to 10th place. Like I said earlier, though, physical sales of PC games tend to be miniscule in this day and age, so just sticking in the top 10 is pretty damn good.
